edward's latest entry opens up a whole new topic to rant about. (horrah to all readers of my horrendously boring blog which has limited contents that often centers around my horrendously boring - pardon me. non-existent life.) first. check out this very interesting article. click here!
i come from a school who used to be one of the elites. we had our glory days. but even back then, it wasn't our academia rankings or top notch ccas we were proud of. it was the culture we could call it as unique. call it a boys-school thing. i've never really fancy the whole AC hype. (no offence to members of the AC clan here. this is just an example.) to me. it's either you're in it. or you're not. to me, you're in the school because you're immensed totally into the school spirit of nurturing you into a full-fledged high achiever. yet of course, the ones i cannot stand, are the ones who are there for the name it carries. (could be more a case of superficial-inferiority complex.) and then there are others who are totally deluded by the whole school spirit that they no longer comes out of the world of their own, which is quite ironic if you think about it. i mean, the school teaches you to see the world in different lights (or so they claim.), yet many of their students are still stuck in there, refusing to get out.
and the fact that people are actually commenting on the love life of a couple, where one happens to be a member of the elite and the other, a supposed sad figure on the ghetto side of singapore, is totally ridiculous. it makes me sad because this shows love has stooped to a level where the school you came from matters more than anything else. ahh. see. it's once again, the darn ministry's fault. creating that rank system has created a new generation of self-centered citizens. reading literature texts about class systems (jude; the age of innocence; she stoops to conquer.), this article makes for interesting comparisons, or (!) a new setting for a play. i'm proud of the fact my school taught us to be extremely humble. because we always know we having nothing much to be proud of.
RJCdude - call on lower-ranking students to "quit trying to climb the social ladder by dating students from top schools." it made me laugh like no tomorrow. this is like reading michael chiang's teenage textbook. and suddenly, the school ranking system has perpetuated into a social climbing SDU unit. the fact they come from singapore's ivy leagues doesn't prove them to be great lovers. to spew such a line say so much about his ignorance of reality. and he's still living in his own rabbit hole. one guy said "The one weaker in academics will not be able to provide nourishment for the mind and cannot engage in intelligent discussion on politics, for example,": now. imagine having your partner for life. and then imagine your love life depends very much on the communication of having intelligent topics. and one day when both wakes up and there's nothing left to talk about, it will end before you can even say 'dysfunctional'. i mean. didn't they watched the royal tenenbaums? and ending off with his own blend of intelligence, he said "We are afraid of genetic dilution."
how witty.
oh no. i'm worried. does that mean my compatiblity with my life partner is only restricted to the girls of SRJC? shall end of this enry with something totally irrelavant. suria's filming at my void deck. hah.
