everytime lunar new year comes around, it will be that "oh! it's chinese new year again! how fast!"
anyhow, i'm supposed to be filled with good luck and prosperity this entire year according to the chinese zodiac. funny how i am such a cynic yet when it comes to supposed good luck from apparent divine sources, i become a firm believer. so it had better be true. ah. read further.
ooh. american idol is back. the ultimate dream-dashing reality show. which i feel was designed to kick people back to reality zone whilst inviting more people to lalaland - the neverland of fame and fortune. and when watching true believers of the supposed talents (and i mean true, firm believers, who go the extra mile of standing up to their rights.), i can't help but wonder - who the hell, for the love of hell, planted such false beliefs that they may have a place at billboard or top 40s, or the cover of rolling stones? could it be the parents, who wants nothing but pure optimism for their child? could it be evil music svengalis who had turned the music world into one where skimpy outfits, tabloids cover stories, synthesizers and good back up singers covered up the talentless vocals of today's singers, who had implanted such beliefs in these youths? i mean, if my child was ugly, i will tell him he is ugly. why hide the truth? my parents brought me up this way. ah. the art of deprecation.
anyway, the parents probably went "daarlinng, your voice was most magnificent! even bette midler can't bring the wind under her wings!" when the child's tone deaf. they may not realise the bathroom was designed to muffle horrible tones and so you can only hear the mariah-careyness of your own voice. and they read andrew matthews books, and britney spears' interview with lime magazine that advises her fans to never give up on their dreams. worst, they decided to be inspired by movies like fame, crossroads (!), glitter (!!), etc. with shows like american idols sprouting out and about, they decided it was the calling - the calling for their talents to be unveiled. so they put up all their courage, filled with the belief that they are the next american idol - sang in front of three people and brought themselves to worldwide scrutiny on national tv.
and there, their bubble burst.
