Sometimes my mind don't shake and shift,
I'm getting quite used to the collective gasps when customers walk into our screening room; they gushed, they sighed and then I repeat our rental rates and daily screenings for like, the millionth time. I'm getting quite used to that same group of customers that drop by every night; our cash register ringing with glee as we accept their pink dollar with joy. I'm getting quite used to the little bits of soap opera that unfolds every now and then, religiously reported by the lovely kids from House of Japan. I'm getting quite used to the warning honks from the the traffic police, and then laughing at all the car owners scrambling to their cars parked along the already tiny lane.
It's a lovely little street.
I've grown somewhat accustomed to the sights and sounds of Haji Lane.
These are what I am familiar with now.
Then there's the company of a warm drizzle, a cup of hot chocolate - it's just not the same as milo peng though - like the solitude of a single cigarette in between your fingers, it's lovely to watch the smoke rises as the day watlz by. Maybe because it's the only moment I have with myself before I move on to the next box to check on my To-Do list.
I could fall asleep anytime now, even though I know a cup of coffee is all it takes to jolt me up from a slight slumber. There're a million emails to reply to, a neverending list of groceries to purchase and a thousand different ways to be even more organised than I am currently.
I'm quite tired, really. But I will give a smile still, albeit weakly.
