hoorah. national day is here again. back when i was a scrawny lil' boy in primary school, national day was one of my favorite..ya besides children's day. firstly we get goodie bags and school's running havoc and then you know, it's once a blue moon sorta thing. days before the school held their celebration, we would be calling each other and then assigned tidbits-allocation. i would bring calbee, A will bring twisties and B will bring something else. no such things as lays or ruffles. primary school allowance obviously did not allow that. then we would pick out our red and white home clothes 3 days in advance. and proudly instructs my mum to iron 'em.

and the day comes! exhilaration rules and lower primary would be having games day on the fields and upper primary had their's in the hall. when we reached primary 4, some of us held our heads high and walked with the most obvious subtle shruggness from the hall to the grandstand. cos normally upper primary's celebrations ends earlier. and we would kept on ranting how we missed playing the games and that how the hall was hot and stuffy loudly so that some of those lil' kids could hear us. then we would had our finale singing national day songs. in lower primary everyone sang with so much gusto as if their lungs might just burst out. and some upper primary kids would pretend not to sing but deep inside their greatest desires was the otherwise. gawd. i saw thru 'em. but still, national day was fun.

now, we practically just rolled our eyes at those lame little skits about racial riots or whatsoever, watching the watch as we hope all corniness will come to an end.
ahh. i love national day.
