as yet Untitled.
The thing about sunny 37 degrees celcius Singapore, is that you still can ice skate and imagine it's winter wonderland.
So I ice-skated today! Boy did Jurong Fuji Ice Palace beckoned when the lift opened.
At first I thought it'd be a Disney On Ice sorta atmosphere when I arrived because of the Disney Instrumental Volume 2 album they blasted through and through. Not before the music revealed itself to be NOW Circa 1999 (Ricky Martin! Dr. Bombay! Aqua! Britney '(was)-a-virgin-period' Spears!) and morphing into full fledged EQ Music DanceDAnCeDance 2001 and Mandopop. Seriously.
I actually thought they'd at least play Bond or some Charlotte Church. Or at least Christmas carols would have been better. Not 556677 or F5. On repeat.
The crowd had little Michelle Kwans to-bes having lessons to one day represent Singapore in the Winter Olympics. Or be Mulan on the next Disney On Ice. A couple of expat kids having fun here at Jurong because they have run out of places to go in Singapore. Or perhaps practising for real ice skating back at their European hometown during Christmas vacation. Then there are those showy ice hockey dudes doing their stunts and irritating people with their ice-splashing, thing. I swear one more time they cut me I will show the finger. And of course, virgins like me.
After a few rounds, with the railing, I could actually go on my own. After which I had to watch out for those darn ice hockey people who would occasionally buzzed past and scare the bejezzus out of me. And sometimes they'd pretend they are on Swan Lake, a Jurong Fuji Ice Palace production. I had fun. And FYI, I didn't fall. At all.
I should consider a career with Disney.
Later in the night, me and Edward went for the Screen Singapore short film outdoor screening. While Shanice went for her very fun Kovan GRC National Day Dinner. Royston Tan's Hock Hiap Leong and Sun Koh's The Secret Heaven were fantastic. I've got mine under my sleeve, too. One day, my friend. One day.We missed taking photos of the fireworks because of lousy batteries.
